GPFA has once again partnered with the International Securities Lending Association (ISLA) to run a dedicated beneficial owner meeting during the conference. This Beneficial Owner session will take place on Tuesday, 18 June from 9AM-12PM and is for registered beneficial owners attending the conference. This half day session will be led by GPFA members Alexander Scott Baker from Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and Morten Gevoll from Norges Bank Investment Management and will focus on the specific challenges and opportunities facing beneficial owners in today’s market. Key discussion topics include T+1 settlement, Basel endgame, cybersecurity threats, routes to market and digitalization in the investment industry. We look forward to connecting with you then!

Canada coming in strong! 🇨🇦 40% of our Global Peer Financing Association (GPFA) members are Canadian beneficial owners and yesterday we gathered with an amazing group of these members in Toronto to learn, share, and discuss the global securities financing market. GPFA Launches New Single Topic Meeting Series
GPFA is thrilled to announce the launch of a new single topic meeting series, focusing on the upcoming requirements for the U.S. Treasury market to shift central clearing for the cash and repo markets. For our first meeting, GPFA is pleased to welcome Laura Klimpel from The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) who will provide insights into this significant shift. For the second meeting in this series, we will hear another expert market perspective from BlackRock's, Michael Winnike, who will present on how they are preparing for the shift to central clearing. We always say that when global beneficial owner peers come together to network, learn, and discuss industry best practices, our entire marketplace moves forward. Last week in Singapore, this again proved to be true. Meeting alongside the PASLA Conference on Asian Securities Lending,, Global Peer Financing Association (GPFA) members and beneficial owner friends gathered to discuss many of topics driving the securities financing markets today. GPFA and our members are incredibly grateful to GIC, Tommaso Sechi, CFA, Yin Yin Ng, and the rest of your team for hosting the meeting. Thank you also to Bethel Loh for co-leading the meeting with Yin Yin Ng.

Adding BCI to our Association completes the representation from the largest pension plans in Canada, a group which is informally known as the Maple 8. Canadian beneficial owners run highly sophisticated securities financing programs and are some of the leading market participants globally. The GPFA member community is thrilled to have BCI part of the group, and we look forward to the knowledge sharing and expansion of best practices discussions that will follow by having BCI involved.
